headed back today

the trip has been really good. we've been in shanghai for a few days seeing the sights and visiting a friend of russell's that runs an orphanage for older girls with disabilities. that's been the highlight of the trip for me by far. the flight leaves at 3:55p shanghai time, 2:55a kansas time. we'll be in traveling mode from about noon on (11a kansas time). we connect in chicago monday afternoon and land in kansas city a little before 10p i think. we're looking forward to being back where we can trust the food. see you soon!

i haven't uploaded any of my pictures yet, but this picture is one my mom took in aberdeen, a floating fishing village, of a famous seafood restaurant in hong kong called JUMBO.

Off to Hong Kong & Shanghai

We're off to Hong Kong to spend time with my brother and mother tomorrow morning. We connect through San Francisco which makes for a slightly longer total trip time, around 24/25 hours. We land at about 5a Kansas time Saturday morning then it takes some time to get into the city and find the hotel. On the tail end of the trip we'll be in Shanghai. That's a new city for us and we expect it to be really interesting since they're preparing for the World Expo, which opens about a week after we leave (http://en.expo2010.cn/). We'll also be spending a couple of days with Terry, who runs an orphanage for older Chinese girls (teenagers and young adults) who have physical disabilities. Should be a great trip.

I don't expect to be on the blog but I am bringing my good camera so I'll post some stuff after we get back.

Keep us in your prayers.
